With ResourceMateŽ you have
several methods from which to choose for converting your existing data
and for bulk cataloguing your library items. Choose the method that saves
you the most time and fits your budget.
Data Conversion
Hundreds of ResourceMateŽ customers
have had us convert their existing data into ResourceMateŽ format. The
cost ranges from $60 to $240, depending on the complexity and format of
your data. If you send us your existing data we can evaluate it and provide
you a quote on the conversion cost.
EntryMate™
Enter your whole library or
finish the entry process by simply scanning in (or manually recording)
a list of
ISBN's
that can be processed
by us for $125 per 1,000 items. This can speed up the cataloguing of a
new library tremendously! For users of the Regular version of ResourceMateŽ,
the resulting cataloguing data can be merged into your existing database
for $60. ResourceMateŽ Plus users have a new feature to allow this data
to be imported and merged at no extra cost.
To make the ISBN recording
process easier, we offer a hand-held portable scanner for rent by the
week. You can go from shelf to shelf scanning in your items' ISBN barcodes
on this handy unit. You can also use the unit to manually record ISBN's
for those items without an ISBN barcode.
ResourceMateŽ Plus
users who make use of ResourceMateŽ's Import from Internet
feature (see below), can now use EntryMate™ to process a file of
accumulated Library of Congress records. This is great if the library
computer does not have access to the Internet. Your volunteers can accumulate
a file of LOC records and those records can be merged en masse.

Import from Internet / ISBN
Retrieval
This popular feature allows
you to find full cataloguing information using the free Library of Congress
(LOC) Z39.50 web site (www.loc.gov/z3950).
Search for an item, copy the entire LOC cataloguing record to the Windows™
clipboard in one motion and have that information automatically entered
into the appropriate fields in ResourceMateŽ! You can even make changes
to the imported data before it is added to the database. Import from Internet
can increase your entry speed five times. Import from Internet can also
be used with EntryMate™ in the Plus version
(see above).
With ISBN Retrieval (available to registered users with support), enter
the isbn number and click on the ISBN Retrieval button. If you have an
internet connection, the Library of Congress will be searched, otherwise
a local table will be searched.
Import from MARC
ResourceMateŽ Plus
users can import one or more files containing MARC records. Your book
supplier may have given you a MARC database of your items or you may have
data that has been exported from another library system in MARC format.
You can import this data into ResourceMateŽ. There are many MARC format
variants. Check with us to ensure your MARC records are in a compatible
format.
Import from Librarians'
Helper, Ascii, Excel, Access
ResourceMateŽ Plus
users can import information previously entered in any of these formats.
