Search, Run Patron Search

The librarian may have configured searching so you can change these options, otherwise you won't see them.

Search Method

This choice determines how ResourceMateŽ will find items.

Exact Phrase - starting with

The title has to start with whatever the patron typed in.

Exact Phrase - Containing

The title has to contain (somewhere within the field) whatever the patron typed in.

All Words - Exact Word

If the patron typed in "polar bear" they would find "The wonderful bear of the polar region".  They would not find "The wonderful bears of the polars".

All Words - Word Starting With

If the patron typed in "polar bear" they would find "The wonderful bears of the polars".  They would not find "Unbearable conditions that cause bipolar personality".

Any Words - Exact Word

If the patron typed in "bear" they would find "The wonderful bear".  They would not find "The wonderful bears".

Any Words - Word Starting With

If the patron typed in "bear" they would find "The wonderful bears".  They would not find "Unbearable people".

Fuzzy search enabled

This option strips out special characters and spaces before searching.  A patron entering

lewis c s

lewis, cs

lewis c.s.

would still find lewis, c.s.

Soundex Enabled (Soundex Add On Module)

When this box is checked a phonetic search will be performed.  Spelling will not be as critical.

Note:

The first letter needs to be correct but vowels are ignored when finding matches.

Note:

The "Word starting with" searches will be performed as "Exact word".

Max. search results

Enter the number of search results you would like returned.  The higher the number, the longer the search will take.

Group by Subject (Advanced Patron Search Add On Module)

Check this box to Group all search results by Subject.  You can then choose the subject best suited and expand to see all items found within the search criteria with that subject.
