File, Items, Subjects

Click the Subject Tab on the Item Entry form or Press [Alt]-[S] to move to this tab.
You may enter unlimited subject headings (also known as subject keywords) for the current item. This is a good place to put keywords, table of contents and other interesting things about the item. You can do future searches on this subject field and find all items that deal with the same subjects, provided they are entered here.
For subjects you've previously entered, double-click on the subject you want to update. Click once on the subject you want to delete and press
![]()
Add Subject
![]()
Click this button to create a blank subject record in the subject list.
You may enter the first few letters of the subject. As you type, the value will be filled in from any previously entered subjects. If you are beginning the entry process you may wish to choose from the lists supplied by Jaywil Software. (To include these lists from Jaywil, choose Re-Index, Refresh and Pack Data Files from the File menu, click on Refresh Lists and answer YES to the questions about including Jaywil lists.)
Type in the subject information in the blank record.
If you are entering a number of subjects do the following for quick entry:
Click Add Subject, enter the subject and press the down arrow key. You are now ready to add the next subject without having to click the Add button.
Note:
You may enter tracing information (I. Title, II. Sub-Title, etc.) into the subject information but remember to put the appropriate Roman numeral up front (I, II, III etc.). The cards will print this information, otherwise it will be ignored when subjects are reported.
Update
To change a subject, double click on the subject and type the change.
Delete Subject

Order
The order number determines what position in the list the highlighted (or new) subject will get. The Order # is automatically calculated for you and in most cases will not need to be changed.
If you want to change the order of a subject within the list, click on
![]()
or
![]()
on the right side.
This will move the highlighted subject up or down in the list.
Remember to click on

when you are done making changes.
