My collection is small but eventually I know I will want to bar code.
or
We won't be able to afford a bar code scanner until next year.
Should we begin bar coding now?
If you know that you will eventually be bar coding your collection, we recommend that you begin applying bar code labels as you enter items into ResourceMateŽ. This way you will removing your items from the shelf and re-shelving them once.
If you don't apply bar code labels now, in about a years time you will again be removing items from the shelves, applying bar code labels and re-shelving every item.
I am not importing items (from MARC, EntryMate, Librarian's Helper or Ascii) into ResourceMateŽ and am not sending a list of isbn's to Jaywil Software for the EntryMate process. I will be entering items myself (or using the ISBN Retreival / Import from Internet process).
Using the item entry form
When you add your first item you will need to type in the bar code number or scan it into
![]()
or
![]()
on the Library Card tab in File, Items.
The above show a type 1 and type 2 bar code entry field.
As you add new items click on
![]()
to calculate the next available bar code number.
You can also type the number in or scan it.
For any additional items added using the Step by Step Item Add, make sure
![]()
is checked.
