The following is an overview of the label generation process.
In ResourceMate 3.0 labels (and cards) are generated into batches for printing. During and after the entire batch of labels have been printed you can continue to add new items and indicate which labels and cards you want to print.
How do I set the switches on individual items to indicate that I want to generate labels or cards for that item?
There are 3 steps involved in the label printing process.

Generate Labels
In order to print labels you first have to generate a batch of labels to print.
Note:
If you want to re-print some labels from the last batch of labels you do not have to generate the labels again.
Note:
If you have continued to add items and have not printed any of the generated labels you may generate again. The batch of labels will include all labels previously generated as well as the labels for any new items you have recently added.
To generate labels click on Report, Print Item Labels, highlight the label template you want to use and either double click or click on
![]()
You will then click on
![]()
then
![]()
Upon completion your labels are ready to preview.
Note:
If you had previously generated labels then realized you had to make changes (because the generate process didn't generate as many labels as you expected) you can generate labels again. You will get 2 warnings that you are trying to generate even though the flags have not been reset. This warning is in place so you realize the new labels are going to be added to the current labels that are ready to print.
Print Labels
To Preview/Print Labels click on
![]()
You will see a screen preview of the labels. Before printing for the first time you should ensure that labels line up properly with your label stock. To do this click on
![]()
then
![]()
We recommend you test on blank paper instead of using your label stock. After the test page has printed you can hold it up to the label stock to confirm the labels line up properly.
If the labels do not line up properly, adjust the
![]()
or
![]()
and
![]()
again. When the labels line up properly click on "Ok".
To print the labels click on
![]()
Note:
If you only want to print a certain page instead of all labels, when the printer dialog appears, click on "Pages" instead of "All". you can then enter the specific page number(s) you want to print.
Clear switches
If you don't clear label switches the next time you generate a label batch all previous labels will be included. If you proceed and print you will end up with duplicate labels.
When the printing has completed you will be asked "Did the Library Labels print out correctly?" Until all sheets have printed out correctly you should answer No.
Note:
At any time later, in the Generate\Options screen, you can click on
![]()
If all sheets have printed out correctly and you answer Yes, you will then see another screen with a button that says "Yes - Clear Item Print Switches". Click that button to clear the label print switches.
Even after the label switches have been cleared, you can go in at any point and re-print from the previous batch of labels. As soon as you generate a new batch of labels, you can no longer re-print from the previous batch of labels.
