How Do I's

File, Backup Data Files

Backup File

Click on

to choose the location and name of your backup file.

Note:

You can backup to a usb flash drive.  Insert the flash drive then click on ... to point to the usb flash drive.

Note:

If you have Windows XP and a cd burner you can point the backup to C:\Documents and Settings\?????\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning (where ????? is your user login name. Confirm the folder name for your user login by looking in C:\Documents and Settings in Explorer). After the backup is completed, the little balloon will pop up saying you have files to be written to the cd.

Use diskette

Check this option if you are backing up to an external disk like floppy diskettes, zip drive, etc.  The backup file will span across more than one removable media if necessary.

Automatically Format each diskette

Check this option if you want each diskette formatted before creating the backup file on it.

Exclude from Backup

Patron Search

This is a large file depending on the number of items entered.  It will be re-built if you ever need to restore.  If you are backing up to cd or a network drive and have room, including it in the backup will reduce the time needed to re-build if you ever have to restore.

Report Templates

Include these if you can as it includes any changes you have made to report templates.  Excluding it will reduce the number of diskettes needed for your backup.

LOC Local

This is the Local table with LOC information.  Only include if you are copying everything from one computer to another.  This will increase the size of the backup considerably.

Special for Jaywil

Include these items

Special debugging files

Only check this option if instructed to do so by Jaywil Software.

Conversion data

Only check this option if instructed to do so by Jaywil Software or if you are sending Jaywil Software your backup so they can apply report modification from 2.0.

LOC ISBN

This is a list of isbn's that you have found on the Library of Congress using the ISBN Retrieval feature.  As we receive ResourceMateŽ users Anniversary data, Off-site backup, etc. we add to the Local LOC table and make it available as a download from the Web.

This is helpful for other ResourceMateŽ users that don't have internet access on the computer that is running ResourceMate.  It also helps decrease traffic to the Library of Congress Web Site.

Do Not Send Patron (for privacy)

Jaywil Software never solicits to, or sells names found in the patron table of any backups we ever receive.  However, you have the option to exclude your patron table if you are sending a backup to Jaywil Software for any reason.
